San Vito Lo Capo

Those who choose to come to San Vito do so especially for the beautiful crystal-clear sea and the beach, almost three kilometers of fine white sand, whose beauty can rival even the most famous paradises found in the Tropics. The seabed slopes down gently from the beach and there are no currents in this area, making it particularly suitable for those who are not strong swimmers and for children. Those who prefer a rocky coastline are also spoilt for choice: from the Zingaro to the Cofano Nature Reserve; the Santa Margherita bay in Makari (a hamlet 4 kms from San Vito Lo Capo ) and Castelluzzo (another small village 9 Kms away). The numerous coves and small pebble beaches along the coastline provide beautiful spots for swimming in marvellous surroundings. The beach of fine white sand and the crystal clear sea of ever-changing colours, the harmony of the colourful hibiscus, oleander and bougainvillea mingle with the fragrance of jasmine and cous-cous ... this is San Vito Lo Capo! San Vito Lo Capo has become renowned and appreciated all over the world thanks to the hospitality of the local people and the cordiality of tour operators who over the years have placed importance on developing relational tourism.

(J. W. Goethe)

The town’s fame is also thanks to it typical dish of couscous, the local speciality, to which an international food and wine event the "Couscousfest" is dedicated each year. Even though some building development has taken place over the years, the town, with its low white houses, has managed to maintain the atmosphere of the fishing village that it once was. San Vito Lo capo is just 38 kilometers from Trapani and about 100 from Palermo and lies in a bay with calm, shallow waters between the Zingaro and the Cofano Nature Reserves. However, San Vito Lo Capo, defined as the Pearl of the Costa Gaia, is not the only wonder to be discovered along this pristine stretch of coast of Western Sicily. Makari (a hamlet 4 kms from San Vito Lo Capo) offers spectacular views of the sun setting over the Gulf of Cofano and Castelluzzo (9 kms from San Vito Lo Capo) as well as numerous coves and small pebble beaches and the charming scenery. All this goes towards providing visitors with a relaxing holiday in San Vito Lo Capo. There is also no lack of other things to do in the area, such as trekking excursions in the Zingaro and Cofano reserves, visiting the nearby archaeological sites of Segesta and Mothya (to name a few), boat trips, and sailing and diving courses as well as many other activities.
